I had just a banana and a bottle of water, but I bought a bread roll and a whispa bar in Batterstown on the way home. I realise now that I wasn't eating and drinking enough in training/races.
fitzgen7 November 20 2008 19:08:05
Yeah, I went alone. It's a good indicator of maturity, liking quiet time alone. I e-mailed Ken last week, asking him about the training he and Paddy etc. do. I didn't hear anything back yet.

Fr J, living with Dougal and Fr Ted you must be single to do all the miles. Then again you have go on! go on go! go on! a cheer when one is getting dropped in the races.
PODGE November 20 2008 18:43:43
Fr J u should consider pace work on the back of a motorbike for speed, if fact the cops would love it, you could peace while sucking on the fumes. go for it at least you wont be done for speeding
PODGE November 20 2008 18:40:18
Fr J not sure on taf. Ken would love to train with you. did you go alone. Rodge i have no time yet will keep you posted. Keep up the work, are you eating on the spins or just the bars
Rodge November 20 2008 11:52:01
Podge, unless altered I have an 11.30am kick off on Saturday. I hope to go out at 8 for 2 1/2.

Yeah Lenny I forced the pace all the way (average speed ~ 29km/hr). I'll be going as far as Virginia after Christmas, please God (I have ancestors from there). BTW what is Taf on about ?
PODGE November 18 2008 15:32:45
Fr J that was some distance in 4.5 hrs, did you get the bus eireann from Navan via athboy to trim. of course studend fare Unless my maths are wrong your on course to start behide the RAS and catch the

Wheels sold to Niall
PODGE November 17 2008 18:03:59
Good to hear u up the game, the wheels will help in trying to make the time limit and not have Mr Short *** down your back. Jimmy L Fr J for scrath, you missed being with the big guns yesterday
Gareth E November 17 2008 16:38:45
Niall, reduced spoke count and blade spokes makes a difference: 18 spoke front and 20 spoke rear. the front hub is also very aero. Not sure what resulting difference in velocity will be Wink
fitzgen7 November 17 2008 15:50:07
Gareth, I didn't get your e-mail. niall.fitzgerald7@mail.dcu.ie. What difference will these wheels make (1 or 2 km/hr at race speeds), anyone ?
Gareth E November 17 2008 13:11:06
Niall, just e-mailed you my address etc.
fitzgen7 November 17 2008 12:41:27
Gareth, Will I knock into you ? (what number are you in Collinswood ?) 300 euro. Deal ?
fitzgen7 November 17 2008 12:23:11
Gareth, I seen your ad on the internet. They're 385 euro in cyclesuperstore. I have 'normal' spokes on dure ace hubs on my carbon racer. Will this be enough of an upgrade for the Ras ?
fitzgen7 November 17 2008 12:05:25
On principle, I didn't buy into the 'Benevolant Fund' lark. Great to help the family initially, but the fund is too much like insurance for my liking. I live by good faith.
fitzgen7 November 17 2008 11:58:43
Lenny, I upped the intensity this weekend. Big ring, medium cog stuff. Yesterday I went to Navan, Athboy (... An Gaeltacht... ), Trim (4.5 hrs). Good main roads (except from Navan to Athboy)

Mr Hunter is obviously a man of sound judgement! You couldn't meet a nicer bunch than the DWCC. I second that Julie!
